Lauren likes to refer to my bedroom as a hodgepodge. Not a very glamorous description, I know. In my defense, all of the furniture pieces are pieces that I’ve collected over many years, and I still love them. However, some of the pieces are tag sale fixer-uppers that may not have been my best creative moments, or chairs that I’ve recovered one too many times. That’s not to say that we’re considering tossing out what’s there and starting over. No. But we’ve been brainstorming lately about what we can do to make it look more pulled together. While searching for beautiful bedroom photos to inspire, I couldn’t help but notice that all of them have one thing in common: a bench, loveseat, or stool at the foot of the bed. It’s such a wonderful finishing touch. Don’t you agree? I don’t know about you all, but some pretty substantial conversations take place while getting dressed, undressed or just resting in the bedroom. And where better to sit, than in one of these inviting seats.
While we’ll continue on our journey to discover how to refresh the master bedroom, think about whether your bedroom could accommodate a seat at the foot of your bed. We think it’s a game changer. Take a look at this eclectic Michael S. Smith bedroom featured in Elle Decor May 2010. The bench at the foot of this bed is a classic piece by Jasper. It’s perfectly paired with the painted silver bed. Something to aspire to? Definitely. A fireplace would be nice, too. We’re always looking for inspirational photographs. Send us photos of your favorite pieces at the foot of the bed, and we’ll share. Enjoy the sunshine!
