Our Segment on The Martha Stewart Show

Happy Monday, everyone! We were finally able to get our hands on the segment we did for The Martha Stewart Show that aired on May 10th. We were so honored to be included in the Mother’s Day show with Elizabeth Gilbert (author of Eat, Pray, Love), and artist Yukiko Miyai (her clay creations are incredible!). For our segment, we created a set using the 7 essential pieces that we talk about in our book (if you pick it up, we’d be so grateful for your review).

The set we designed was really meant to look like the living room of a small first home or apartment. We wanted to show how the seven essential pieces could actually fit into one space in a very organic way. Our book shows you how to take each of these seven pieces and move them from room to room, and home to home throughout your life. So that love seat that was in the living room of your first teeny, tiny apartment will someday move to the foot of your bed. Below, Suzanne tells Martha how the dresser makes the perfect make-shift bar (dresser by Hickory Chair, lamp by Beeline Home, art from Kenise Barnes Fine Art).
Below, all the mothers and daughters streaming into the studio before taping began (love seat by Lillian August, coffee table from Knoll, rug by Madeline Weinrib, lucite side table by Niermann Weeks).
Smiling after the segment was over!

Hope you all enjoyed seeing our first TV appearance and a big thank you to all of the vendors who so generously donated their product for our set. Thank you to Niermann Weeks, Madeline Weinrib, Lillian August, Kenise Barnes Fine Art, Baker, and Hickory Chair. Thank you to our favorite producer, Barbara Fight, for making the whole experience fun. And thank you to Martha for all of your support of the book!

How exciting! The set looks beautiful, and I’m sure it was exciting to do the segment with Martha.

I spent the past week absorbing the concepts in your book, and know I will refer to it repeatedly. Just left my review on Amazon!

Great ideas!  I love how these pieces can easily move room to room as your needs change.   I can’t wait to try some of your ideas!!
