Martha Stewart Cake stand giveaway

Darcy Miller, Editorial Director of Martha Stewart Weddings and I have known each other for years, so when she invited Lauren and me to a a very special ‘Piece of Cake’ breakfast event in the test kitchens of the Martha Stewart offices, I jumped at the chance. Full disclosure: I also had advance notice that they would be serving the latest breakfast obsession, cronuts, the half-croissant, half-donut hybrid that everyone is talking about. The cronuts did not disappoint, but the show-stoppers were the absolutely beautiful cake stands from the Martha Stewart Collection at Macy’s. They’re gorgeous! Darcy lined the little bird dome covered beauties all the way down a long table runner, then used the larger white with gold trim cake stands to contain favors for a bridal shower, and even a tempting cookie “jar” to entice the back to school crowd.marthacakes We were challenged to come up with our own take on how to use one of the cake stands from the collection, and Lauren immediately came up with a pretty sweet idea. It’s the perfect thing to display her growing nail polish collection.  nailpolishcakestand1 Seriously, though, I’ve been a collector of cake stands, old and new for as long as I can remember, and Martha’s collection at Macy’s is really special. Many of the pieces have gold trim on them, which is a nice modern take on a traditional form. If you’ve got a wedding, birthday, or even a house warming, these cake stands are a wonderful gift.chanelpolish1A few of our favorite Martha cake standsck4If you’d like to join the giveaway to win a $50 gift card towards your own Macy’s Martha Stewart Collection cake stand, all you have to do is leave a comment about your own inspired idea for using a cake stand. I’ve always wanted to use one for what Martha suggested in one of her “Good Things” articles awhile back — as a place to corral all the little things that accumulate next to the sink.

  • Laura O.

I will use it to set up some atum ornaments for the coming season.

  • Melissa

I love the idea of using a cake stand for displaying nail polish. I think another great use would be to use it to display some gords for fall, which is just around the corner!

  • jenny

Looking ahead to the holidays….I would stack gingerbread men cookies or all white coconut cupcakes on the stand and then decorate the glass dome( using a wet erase white chalk marker ) with little falling snowflakes or dots to simulate a snow globe effect . Or put a small gingerbread house on the stand and do the same with the glass dome so it looked like an enchanting woodsy winter scene.

  • rachel

I like the dresser display idea — putting my perfumes on top! Or as a pretty decorative item in my living room.

  • Madeline Osigian

I would use a pretty cake stand for elevating a stack of antique books or corralling jewelry.
