Day 1 at High Point Furniture Market

Hey y’all! Sorry, we’re in North Carolina, we can’t help it! Yesterday was our first day at the Fall furniture market in High Point, NC.  We stopped by Design Legacy’s colorful showroom to check out their latest pillow palette. These gorgeous pink and white beauties caught our eye, and we fell in love with the circular love seat upholstered in a sky blue and white Ikat. Breakfast nook anyone?suzanneWe took a closer look at Aerin Lauder’s lighting line with Visual Comfort and were very pleased to find these unusual hanging fixtures in metallic and white. They’re unlike anything else on the market and we think they’re REALLY chic.aerin3These chic wall mounted sconces are an homage to Serge Mouille, also by Aerin Lauder for Visual Comfort. The juxtaposition of these fixtures on this damask print was a wonderful pairing.aerin1Oh, and they are being manufactured in white as well. A wonderful twist!aerin2At this time of year, we start to begin thinking about summer-house designs, as clients with summer houses start planning for the decoration of their beach houses. Ever on the lookout for rattan pieces, we thought this sofa at Palecek would make a wonderful contribution to an indoor or outdoor space.wicker2Another Palecek piece; the workmanship is beautiful.wicker1We loved how well accessorized this gorgeous table was and adore the light fixtures.diningtableWe always make a point to stop by the Kindel showroom as we are such Dorothy Draper fans, and they are the only American company with rights to recreate her pieces. This fantastic table, with sculptural scallop detail was reintroduced to the market this season. Fun planter to the table’s left, too!kindelAnother Dorothy Draper piece, reinvented with a pale lavender paint finish, below. We can’t even begin to describe the amazing workmanship and attention to detail that goes into these signature pieces. On camera this piece looks white, but it’s actually a very subtle lavender lacquer. kindel2Look at the hardware!kindel3E. Lawrence Ltd. is an Atlanta-based decorative book company that takes old books and covers them with a beautiful array of decorative papers. We loved the kaleidoscope designs on these books. booksOn our way out of the building we stopped and stared at this sweet chair from Selamat. Summer house? Yes.selamatWe’ll start early tomorrow morning visiting some of our favorite upholstered furniture showrooms including C. R. Lane, Hickory Chair, Lee Industries and Century Furniture. Can’t wait to do some comfortability testing. sandlMore of our favorite finds from High Point tomorrow!

That looks like so much fun! I’m pretty sure I’ll never have the opportunity to visit High Point, so it’s really nice to be able to get a peek through a designer’s eyes. I love that white pillow in the first picture with the pink lines all over it-stunning!

So lovely. I lived in Raleigh for a short time, it was always a treat to go to High Point.
Do you also attend the Antique and Design center show? It is suppose to run the same time as the furniture market. I heard about the NC antique show from dealers at Brimfield, now I want to go! I sure would love a feature if GBGP is able to attend.

Hi Kelly–we have been to the Antique and Design Center show before! We’ve found it to be significantly more high end than Brimfield so there definitely aren’t any bargains. However, the dealers usually have some really beautiful pieces.

Sad I didn’t get to meet you! I thought I saw you in the press center one day but the person i saw had on ear buds and was working so i didn’t want to interrupt in case it really wasn’t you?

  • Lauren

    Hi Lisa,
It probably wasn’t us–neither of us ever wear ear buds! Sorry to have missed you!

Good to know because I would have been really sad to know it was you and I missed you!
