Desk Chairs

We’re in the market for some new desk chairs–for ourselves and for clients! As you may know, we currently sit on a pair of the loveliest, chicest vintage French chairs–but like many pretty things in this world, they are not in the least bit comfortable! Below, an image of our office and said chairs as featured in Domino magazine. While we love the look of these vintage chairs with the modern Blu Dot desk, our hunched-over backs just can’t go on! So, we are on the look out for a good-looking, but comfortable desk chair for our office, as well as for two of our clients. 130517_McGrath7269We quite like the look of the Eames chair as a desk chair. In the past we’ve found it difficult to wrap our heads around the idea of a real desk chair, our minds always going to the types you see at Office Depot. But in truth, we’ve realized if you’re going to log numerous hours in front of the computer, you need a comfortable chair, and that means it’s probably going to be adjustable, high-backed and on wheels. Here are a few images of Eames “Management” chair in two lovely home offices:eamesHere are a few options we’ve come up with, featuring both the original Eames chair design as well as a pretty good reproduction. officechairsClockwise from top left: Design Within Reach (If budget was not an issue, we would go for the classic Eames chair from DWR no questions asked), Milan Direct (A very good, affordable Eames reproduction), Wayfair (Another take on the Eames chair with chic cross hatching on the back), Ballard Designs (The more traditional option that can be done in any fabric your heart desires). We’re all ears if you have a favorite desk chair yourself! I have been scouring Craiglist and eBay for a second Crate & Barrel Icon Executive Office Chair to match our first. Really comfy and a great, not too traditional shape.

Does anyone know if MilanDirect ships to the US?
