Two McGraths, one new name

Time marches on, for us, and probably for you. We’ve made changes, just like you, and for the better. When we started 5 years ago, we wanted to write a book, but soon learned we needed a blog. That book became a bestseller, and the bedrock for a full fledged website that has drawn thousands of you daily as our readers, and many of you as our clients. Now we take the next step, unveiling a new name that embodies our unique view of what we offer our readers, clients, and friends: home, fashion, life: expertly and lovingly curated. For this vision, we’ve given ourselves and our endeavor, a new name: McGrath II.
IMG_8130GBGC-DESIGNGBGC-DESIGN-RETOUCHEDWhat started as Suzanne’s dream of writing a how-to decorating book has turned into a multi-platform business that has grown in ways we never imagined. It began like this: after ten years working with Martha Stewart (and seven years before that working as a residential interior designer), Suzanne left to take care of her young son (now 13!) and to pursue something new. Fifteen plus years of working in the home world had taught S so much–and she wanted to share it with as many people as she could. Book agent after book agent told S the same thing, “If you want to write a book, you need a platform.” Enter: the blog. At the time, Lauren was working at Teen Vogue but beginning to feel like she’d be better suited working in the interiors world. Years of following S around to job sites and antique fairs had rubbed off (and served as useful training!).  GBGP_244The name of our book was always going to be “Good Bones, Great Pieces” and so when we were first designing our blog, we put little thought into its name. We figured it made sense that our future book and blog have the same moniker. And while the name “Good Bones, Great Pieces” has served us well these past 5 years, it has not been the easiest name to live with. When we meet people for the first time, and tell them the name of our blog, no one, we mean, NO ONE, ever gets it. And no one can remember it either. Naming A New Business 101–choose a name people can remember! Duh! Ok, we failed that class. But onward and upward! In celebration of our new name, and in celebration of all of you (!!), we have set up a week of FABULOUS GIVEAWAYS (check back later today for the chance to win a pair of these super fun pillow shams from Biscuit Home). If you follow us on social media, you’ll notice that our handle names have changed. Luckily, if you were following us before our name change, you’re automatically following us now. If you aren’t already following, please do and welcome aboard!

I actually did (and still do!) understand what “Good Bones, Great Pieces” means! (I love collecting and refurbishing old chairs and know how much good bones really matter and are hard to come by these days.)
