Fashion week in NYC is a great time for everyone in the creative community to get inspired. During this time, we’re paying especially close attention to interesting color and texture combinations. While interiors certainly change much slower and less often than fashion, there are so many ways for us to translate what we’re seeing on the runways into our own work in the home. Yesterday, J Crew showed its Spring 2015 show and it felt so FRESH. From oversized button down chambray shirts to glitzy fringe skirts and baggy mesh shorts, silhouettes were comfortable, cool and effortless. The best part about the collection was that nothing looked over-styled. The clothes and the way they were put together was a good reminder that often times the most successful looks are ones that don’t look overly manipulated or planned out. This is something that is constantly in the back of our heads as designers; our worst nightmare is a room that looks like its been “decorated.” Being match-matchy is easy; infusing a space with that unexpected element of suprise, or better yet, uncontrived style? That’s what we’re after, and it’s certainly what the designers behind J Crew’s Spring collection have mastered. See below for a roundup of a few of our favorite looks.
The shoes were especially good this year. We aren’t fans of the chunky heel so we were happy to see all of the elegant, strappy shoes.
We love the proportion of a baggy short with a high heel.
