Celerie Kemble's Dominican Republic Retreat

Since hearing it was in the works a few years ago, we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the Playa Grande Beach Club designed by Celerie Kemble in the Dominican Republic to be published. The April issue of Architectural Digest got the big reveal and it is totally and utterly charming. With friends Charlie Rose, Mariska Hargitay, and George Soros as investors, Kemble set out ten years ago to create a familial resort complete with a clubhouse, cabanas, and bungalows in the style of Dominican vernacular design. Below, Kemble with her family in the clubhouse (the wonderful architectural fretwork throughout was cut by hand).

The faux bois side tables are utterly adorable in this setting.
