Every Spring I like to hit the refresh button on last year’s spring/summer wardrobe. I buy a few key pieces at the beginning of the season that I know I’m going to wear until they’re threadbare. And it’s always the same: a fresh pair of white jeans, a casual dress to wear to the office, a skirt that can be dressed up or down, and shoes that I can run around in all day long! As I’ve gotten older, my look has become pretty classic and neutral. I don’t wear a lot of color or prints anymore mostly because I find that I get tired of them so easily. I try to purchase pieces (especially when they are pricey) that I know I will want to wear three or four years from now. In the weeks leading up to spring, I like to spend some time getting the lay of the land. I do a little research at some of my favorite NY stores, sniff around online, and then I start editing. Here’s what’s on my spring 2015 wardrobe essentials list:
These items may look boring at first glance, but for me there’s nothing more important than really well designed and well made staples. After all, they are the foundation of every great outfit! T by Alexander Wang Poplin Shirt Dress This little shirt dress doesn’t look like much on the hanger but it has a great cut, a little bit longer in the back and really flattering. I bought it this past weekend and can’t wait to start wearing it.
Frame Denim Le High Skinny in Blue I bought these this weekend at Woodbury Commons and I can’t take them off (ankles are freezing)! Perfect crop, perfect wash, perfect mid/high waist.
J Crew High Rise White Jean I hate white jeans that are made out of denim that is too thin. TMI!! These ones by J Crew are the perfect weight. They’re also high waisted which I always prefer.
Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to buy this bag! It’s been on my wish list for at least a year and I think the time has finally come to get in on the Masur Gavriel bucket bag love fest. The camel color seems like it’s the most versatile for Spring, but I also love it in the pale pink.
Benefit Cosmetics Lollitint I read about this tint recently on Into the Gloss and thought it looked so pretty on the model they photographed I decided to go out and buy it. The color stays on your lips for hours–perfect for girls like me who aren’t big on reapplication throughout the day. It looks like you have nothing on, just natural, pretty pink lips and cheeks.
Oscar de la Renta Tassel Earrings I like to add color to my outfits with fun accessories–like these fabulous earrings that my friend Lily introduced me to.
Manolo Blahnik’s classic flat is a total mom shoe but I don’t care, I love it anyway. I think this shoe polishes up just about any outfit you put on.
Adam Lippes denim wrap skirt I love, love, love this skirt and think it’s key to wear it with a shoe like what is shown in the photo above–otherwise I’m afraid it might not be the most flattering! This whole look is so chic and fresh looking. What’s on your spring essentials list? I’d love to know what you’ll be wearing this spring!
