Kate Rheinstein Brodsky’s apartment in Elle Decor

We spend at least a half an hour of every day pinning images to various Pinterest boards. In fact, we’ve found Pinterest to be an incredibly useful tool in creating a dialogue with our clients about the spaces we are designing for them. If you click over to our Pinterest page, you’ll see we have created lots of public boards which catalogue some of our favorite living rooms, dining rooms, master bedrooms, etc. While we’re constantly adding photos to our boards throughout the week, we still keep an old fashioned scrap book where we put our most favorite images. Making it into the scrap book is big. The most recent pages to be included into the real deal scrap book is this apartment featured in the May issue of Elle Decor. It’s the apartment of Kate Rheinstein Brodsky and her family on the Upper East Side and it’s just perfection.

In the article, Brodsky talks about all of the fabric scraps and images she has collected since she was a little girl which she had been saving to one day include in her own home. The chintz is by Bob Collins & Sons. The carpet in the living room is Stark’s classic Natura which helps make all of the fine antiques and chintz feel more casual.

You can see they lacquered the ceiling in the living room a bright white, something we did earlier this year for one of our clients to great effect. From the lacquered library to the lacquered ceiling living room and painted floors in the dining room, Brodsky used her decorative painter well! But really, it’s these special paint finishes that give the apartment its jewel box feeling.

You’ve got to check it out! And make sure to pick up this issue of Elle Decor to see this story in its entirety and all of the beautiful, glossy images in person.
