Daybeds are a great way to make the best use of a guest bedroom or kids room. We like to suggest a daybed as an alternative to twin beds when we are designing a spare bedroom or children’s room because it frees up floor space so that the room can ultimately be more flexible. We often have clients who want a guest room that can also function as a home office, a library, or a kid’s room with plenty of space to sprawl out and play. Day beds are also a great option for a nursery because they allow for a spot for mom or dad to crash in the early months as well as big girl or boy bed once the crib is no longer necessary. We’re working on a guest bedroom at the moment that will eventually become a nursery; we’ve designed a custom day bed upholstered in a whimsical print flanked by a pair of bookcases. This room will make a lively guest bedroom for the meantime, and some day soon be the perfect nursery and then child’s room.
We don’t always make a custom day bed for our rooms, in fact, we often recommend one of the day beds below, depending upon the look we’re going for. As you can see, there’s something available for everyone, so don’t be quick to select the first daybed you see when shopping online or at your local furniture store.
Many of these daybeds allow room for a trundle mattress below, with provides maximum flexibility for guests and kid’s sleepovers. Do you have a favorite?
